Safety and security  
Abu Dhabi has a large and active police force, easily recognized by their ash grey uniforms and clearly visible bright red and white vehicles. The police force is highly respected, and takes community involvement seriously.

The electricity supply in the UAE is 220/240 volts AC at 50 cycles. The socket type is identical to the three point British system.

The major telephone provider in the UAE is Etisalat and to install a standard fixed telephone line in your home you must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid residence visa

Dress code  
The UAE is an open-minded and receptive country and visitors are made to feel both welcome and safe. The attitude to dress is relaxed, but visitors, both male and female, should show respect for local culture and customs in public places.

Language & business hours
The official language of the UAE is Arabic however English is widely spoken in the hotels and shops. English is used as a second language in commerce and is the business language used within the Company.

Getting around town  
Abu Dhabi is an easy city to get around, it is a modern city and has sound infrastructure. You will find that most roads are designed on a grid system and parallel to each other, connected by small streets.

Obtaining a driver's license  
When you have your UAE residence visa you are able to convert/apply for your UAE driver’s license. Nationals
of certain countries can automatically convert their home country license as long as the license is valid.

Driving and alcohol  
Drinking and driving is forbidden in the UAE. The police enforce a strict zero tolerance policy throughout the UAE.
