Q 1. Am I
considered as an
Etihad employee
if selected for
the programme?
A. Yes. You will
be enrolled as a
permanent
full-time
employee of
Etihad Airways
subject to
completion of
the necessary
medical
examinations,
security checks,
and police
clearance where
required. Please
note that you
will only be
furnished with a
contract of
employment after
successful
completion of
the foundation

foundation
course consist
of?
A. Aviation
English,
mathematics and
physics. |

Will I get paid
during the
foundation
course/training?
A. Yes. The
company will pay
you a stipend on
a monthly basis.
This is salary
during the
foundation
course (the
first six
months) and a
social allowance
will be added
when you start
the flying
course (next 18

What is a stipend?
A. A stipend is
a form of
monetary payment
or salary, such
as for an
internship or
apprenticeship.
It is often
distinct from a
wage or a salary
because it does
not necessarily
represent
payment for work
performed.
Instead it
represents a
payment that
enables somebody
to be exempt
partly or
wholly. |

Will I be
provided with
accommodation
and
transportation
during the
course?
A. Cadets who
are from
Emirates other
than Abu Dhabi
will be provided
with
accommodation.
If a cadet is
currently
residing in Al
Ain, then
accommodation
may be granted.
Transportation
will only be
provided if a
cadet is
required to
travel from
Horizon
International
Flight Academy
(Al Ain) to
Etihad’s
Training Academy
(Abu Dhabi) for
an assessment. |

title after the
Cadet Pilot
Programme?
A. After the
successful
completion of
the programme,
you will be
required to sign
another
employment
contract with
Etihad Airways

Q 1. Will I be a trainee for the duration of the course and then become an Etihad employee after graduation?
A. Trainees are employees of the company from the start and receive the normal benefits as per other staff |

Q 2. What are the other employment benefits of working for Etihad?
A. A monthly basic salary, housing allowance, transportation allowance, child allowance, social allowance, personal accident insurance, medical insurance, pension scheme, annual leave, annual leave ticket and concessionary travel. |

A. No. |

Q 4. What is the duration of the programme?
A. Approximately 22 months. |

Q 5. What are the daily work times?
A. Mostly from 8am until 4pm. |

A. This will depend on performance and the attitude shown during the programme. |

Q7 . Will I be required to travel overseas?
A. There is opportunity to travel but this is not mandatory. |

Q8 . What qualification do I get on graduation?
A. Graduates obtain an internationally recognised diploma from the Institute of Leadership and Management. |

Q9 . Q: What happens after graduation?
A. Upon successful completion of the programme, you have the opportunity to choose a department in which to work as a manager, depending on vacancies and performance. |

Q10 . Is there a certain period of time that I need to remain with Etihad?
A. Yes you will be bonded for a certain period of time depending on the course fees. |

Q11 . Do I have to repay anything if I leave before the agreed bonding period?
A. Yes, depending on the status of your course. |

Technical Engineering Development Programme FAQs

Q 1. How can I
enrol?
A.
Enrolment is through the Etihad
Airways website
(careers.etihadairways.com) or,
if you are a student in HCT,
through the sponsorship
department. |

Q 2. How long does
the programme last?
A.
Five years. |

Q 3. What is the
diploma?
A.
Either a Higher Diploma in
Aviation Engineering Technology
(Airframe and Aero Engines) or a
Higher Diploma in Aviation
Engineering Technology
(Avionics). |

Q 4. Is the diploma
accredited by GCAA?
A.
Yes. |

Q 5. What are the
programme regulations?
A.
The regulations are determined
in accordance with GCAA
requirements. The maximum grade
allowed for supplemental
assessments is grade ‘B’ (B is
75 to 79 per cent) for aviation
programme courses. |

Q 6. Will the
modules be conducted at HCT or
overseas?
A.
At HCT with on-the-job training
at Etihad Airways. |

Q 7. Are classes
mixed?
A.
Yes, male and female. |

Q 8. What will
happen if I fail examinations?
A.
HCT will conduct a supplementary
examination within one month
from the date of the results,
subject to HCT supplemental
examination policies. |

policies and procedures in
place?
A.
Once you join, you will receive
a document setting out the
policies and procedures. |

report to?
A. A HCT supervisor and an Etihad Airways manager. |
